The Humanoids Summit, a robotics event, was held in Tokyo on May 28 and 29. The event brought together about 300 companies from around the world.
The summit was organized by a robotics company from California. It was the first time the event had been held in Asia.
Terence Bennett of the Bay Area Robotics Association said Japan was chosen because it has played an important role in robotics for many years. He explained that Japan helped the world imagine and develop robots that work closely with people.
Visitors enjoyed seeing many unusual robots. One robot, made by a Chinese company, had an anime-style head on a small moving body. Other child-sized humanoid robots could dance and even do kickboxing. These human-like robots impressed and entertained people at the event.

5月28日と29日、ロボット工学に関するイベント「ヒューマノイドサミット」が東京で開催された。会場には世界各国からおよそ300社が集まった。 このサミットは、アメリカ・カリフォルニア州のロボット関連企業が主催したもので、アジアでの開催は今回が初めてとなる。 （ロボティクス業界プラットフォーム）「Bay Area Robotics Association」のテレンス・ベネット氏は、日本が長年にわたりロボット分野で重要な役割を果たしてきたことから、開催地に選んだと説明した。また、「日本は、人間のそばで働くロボットを世界が想像し開発するのを助けた」と語った。 来場者は、多くのユニークなロボットを見て楽しんだ。中国企業が開発したロボットは、アニメ風の頭部を小型の移動式ボディーに搭載していた。また、子どもほどの大きさの人型ロボットがダンスを披露したり、キックボクシングまでこなしたりする様子も見られた。イベントでは、こうした人間に似たロボットたちが、来場者を感心させるとともに楽しませていた。
