Renewable energy like solar, wind, and water power grew very fast in 2025. A report by the energy think tank Ember says clean energy growth outpaced the rise in global electricity demand that year. Solar power grew the most, especially in China and India.
For the first time, clean energy made more than one-third of the world’s electricity. This is good news because burning coal, oil, and gas causes climate change, which harms the Earth.
Coal power also dropped to less than one-third of global electricity for the first time. Experts say this is a big change. In the past, more electricity meant more fossil fuels. Now, clean energy is growing faster instead.
This shows that promises by governments to use more clean energy are starting to become real, giving hope for a cleaner future.
