Shun Sasaki is a schoolboy from Hiroshima Prefecture. He started giving free tours at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park when he was only 7 years old. Now he is 12. His goal is to help people remember how terrible nuclear war is and why peace is important.
Shun talks to foreign visitors in simple but confident English. He tells them about what happened in Hiroshima on Aug. 6, 1945, when an atomic bomb was dropped. He also shares the story of his great-grandmother, who survived the bomb.
Shun says he wants visitors to understand how bad war is and how good peace is. He believes people should talk to each other instead of fighting. About twice a month, he goes to the park wearing a yellow vest that says, “Please feel free to talk to me in English!” He hopes more people will learn about Hiroshima and choose peace.

佐々木駿君は広島県出身の小学生である。彼は7歳のときから、広島の平和記念公園で外国人観光客に向けた無料のガイドを行なってきた。現在は12歳で、核戦争の恐ろしさと平和の大切さを人々に伝えることを目標としている。 駿君は、簡単ながらも自信のある英語で外国人観光客に語りかける。1945年8月6日、広島に原子爆弾が投下された出来事について説明するとともに、原爆を生き延びた曾祖母の体験も紹介している。 駿君は、訪れる人々に戦争の悲惨さと平和の尊さを理解してほしいと語る。争うのではなく、互いに対話することが大切だと考えている。月におよそ2回、公園で「Please feel free to talk to me in English!」と書かれた黄色いベストを着て活動しており、より多くの人が広島について学び、平和を選択することを願っている。
