On June 13, Israel attacked Iran’s nuclear and military sites. The attacks used warplanes and drones that had been secretly brought into Iran.

The attacks targeted Iran’s main nuclear facility in Natanz, as well as top Iranian generals and scientists. Israel said the attacks were to stop Iran from getting closer to building a nuclear weapon. U.S. officials and experts believed that Iran had been working on such a weapon before the attacks.

In response, Iran fired many ballistic missiles at Israel. There were explosions in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Two people were killed.

Israel had threatened to attack Iran for a long time, but the U.S. had always tried to stop it.

Other countries in the Middle East condemned Israel’s attacks. World leaders called for both sides to stop fighting.
