The Osaka Expo opened on April 13. The organizers hope that 28.2 million visitors will come in the next six months.

A marching band welcomed the first visitors. They got to see the huge Grand Ring and about 160 pavilions made by different countries, areas, and groups.

Osaka Governor Hirofumi Yoshimura and Dimitri S. Kerkentzes, the head of the group that organizes World Expos, were there. So was the expo’s mascot, Myaku Myaku. A statue of the mascot near the entrance was a popular place for taking pictures.

A planned flyover by Air Self-Defense Force’s Blue Impulse was canceled due to rain. However, early visitors seemed happy.

Mari Iwasawa was one of the first people to enter when the gates opened at 9 a.m. She said she went to the 1970 Expo many times as a little girl.

2025年4月13日、大阪万博が開幕した。主催者は、今後6か月間で2,820万人の来場を見込んでいる。 会場ではマーチングバンドが来場者を出迎えた。来場者は巨大な「大屋根リング」や、各国・地域・団体が出展する約160のパビリオンを楽しむことができる。 開幕式には、大阪府の吉村洋文知事や、万博を統括する団体（博覧会国際事務局）のディミトリ・ケルケンツェス事務局長が出席した。万博の公式キャラクター「ミャクミャク」も登場し、入場口付近に設置されたミャクミャクの像は撮影スポットとして人気を集めた。 当初予定されていた航空自衛隊「ブルーインパルス」の飛行イベントは、雨天のため中止となったが、早くに訪れた来場者の表情は明るかった。 午前9時の開門と同時に入場したイワサワマリさんは、幼い頃、1970年に開催された大阪万博にも何度も足を運んだと語った。
